The Bible has clear instruction about tithing. What does your church teach? The answer to this question is significant. It can provide a window as to whether your church leadership is promoting a community of believers enjoying true body life and fellowship or if they are using a gimmick doctrine to increase income for the budget. There have been many preachers who have used the tithing doctrine to increase the income of their church and indulge their personal lives. As a Christian, I am embarrassed by the likes of Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Ted Haggart, or Kent Hovind. These fiery preachers of the tithe used money from their members for illegal and immoral purposes. I have posted this website for three reasons. The first is to find and reveal the truth about tithing. Is there Biblical proof that mandates a certain amount of your income be donated to the church? Or do church leaders use out of context scriptures to pressure their members into giving more to fund their budget. My earnest study of the Bible has led me to see that the scriptures do not teach Christians to give a minimum of 10% to the church nor has it revealed that to not tithe (give a minimum of 10%) is a sin. The second reason for this website is to follow the steps of Mat.18:15-17. This passage lays out the steps to follow if someone is offended. The voice of the offended gets louder and louder until it must be reckoned with. The last step calls for the church to be told of the offense. This website is a vehicle to 'tell it unto the church'. The church is called to judge itself and to make changes as called to (see the article; Disgruntled Whiners). The third reason for this website it to issue a call for change through repentance. If it can be shown that tithing is not based in Biblical Christianity, can tithe based churches and their associated tithe preachers change their ways? Is repentance possible? In Rev. 2&3 five out of the seven churches in Asia were called to repent. Is it so strange a notion that, 1,900 years later, most modern-day churches are in need to do the same? When a church is confronted with scriptural truth that shows err in their fundamental fund raising doctrine, it should repent. It cannot serve the Lord and its members in falsehood and deception. The Lord was walking among the candlesticks (the local churches) when He said “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” When a church can no longer hear the truth, it stagnates and becomes useless to its members. The body life of Christ is gone. It is only the grace of God that can breath new life into dead bones. Only courage, faith, love, and prayer among believers can change a church for good. The church does not have to be a cold business dependent on money coerced from its members by a fabricated tithing message. By rising up and demanding that the tithe doctrine be abolished, you will see new life through repentance. New life is the result of rising up with His word in one hand and faith in the other. The goal of this website is to see this new life. |
